In the mid 1980’s Wigmore’s the Caterpillar distributor decided there was an opportunity to market used earthmoving machinery parts. For this reason Best Tractor Parts was established to dismantle used Caterpillar machines and sell the used parts taken from them.

It was in 1987 that Australian company Emeco purchased Best Tractor Parts from Wigmore’s and for the next nine years the company successfully operated as used parts suppliers to the earthmoving and mining Industries.

In 1999 The Murphy Family Trust negotiated the purchase of Best Tractor Parts from Emeco, establishing Best Tractor Parts Pty Ltd as a major used parts supplier to the industry. Best Tractor Parts, Perth is managed by Brian Murphy and in 2001 Greg Murphy began similar operations in Mackay, Queensland. The Mackay office has been successful in providing a competitive service to customers on the east coast, also establishing itself with major mining companies, contractors and some government departments. To meet with growing national demands in the industry a new office was established at Singleton, New South Wales in 2005.
